The drama surrounding Ian Machado Garry continues to escalate, this time involving both Khamzat Chimaev and former UFC title challenger Darren Till. Following UFC Qatar, chaos unfolded backstage when Chimaev reportedly shoved Garry after an intense verbal exchange. The altercation quickly gained attention, and Darren Till, a longtime friend and former teammate of Chimaev, wasted little time weighing in with some harsh words for the Irish welterweight.
Till made it clear that while he recognizes Garry’s talent inside the Octagon, he finds his personality “fake,” labeling him as wildly unlikeable despite his impressive fighting skills. According to Till, Garry’s confrontation with Chimaev appeared staged and insincere — and when things got physical, the Irishman’s demeanor changed.
“Ian Garry is such a good fighter man but by god is he possibly the fakest human on Earth?” Till posted on social media. “That whole interaction was fake. And when Ian turned you could see he was scared.”
Till went further, emphasizing that he and Chimaev share a mentality — direct, aggressive, and unapologetic. He suggested that when someone “chats” disrespect, they must expect consequences in person — something he implied Garry tries to avoid.
But Till didn’t stop there.
He also criticized Garry for taking shots at former welterweight champion Leon Edwards following Edwards’ knockout loss to Carlos Prates at UFC 322. Till reminded fans that Garry once trained at Edwards’ gym in Birmingham but was asked to leave due to a “culture clash.” According to Till, Garry has been removed from multiple gyms due to what he described as a poor attitude and insincerity.
Edwards himself previously confirmed that Garry “just didn’t fit into the gym.”
Since then, Garry has relocated his full-time training to Brazil, joining the renowned Chute Boxe camp alongside former UFC champion Charles Oliveira.
Till’s comments concluded with a final cutting blow, stating that Garry is a “proper, proper w*nker” — talented, but deeply unlikeable in his eyes.
As the tension builds, the MMA world now wonders: Will Ian Machado Garry address these accusations? And will this feud lead to an eventual showdown — perhaps even inside the Octagon?
For now, one thing is clear: Ian Garry continues to win fights, but winning the respect of his peers remains a much harder battle.
