Joe Rogan Returns to the Commentary Booth for UFC 322: Makhachev vs. Della Maddalena

UFC 322 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated events of the year, and now it’s official — Joe Rogan is back behind the microphone. After missing UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi, Rogan will return to join Jon Anik and Daniel Cormier on commentary for Saturday night’s historic card at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Rogan’s absence from international events has been standard in recent years, as he only covers U.S.-based pay-per-view cards. His return marks a familiar and fan-favorite trio in the booth, with Anik handling play-by-play duties and UFC Hall of Famer Cormier providing color commentary. Megan Olivi will also be on-site reporting cage-side and conducting post-fight interviews.

UFC officials confirmed the full broadcast lineup earlier this week, noting that UFC 322 is among the final pay-per-view events under the UFC’s current deal with ESPN. Starting in January, the promotion’s numbered events will air under the new Paramount partnership, coming at no extra cost to subscribers — a major change for fight fans.

The main event features a monumental showdown between reigning welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena and lightweight king Islam Makhachev, who moves up to 170 pounds for the first time. If Makhachev wins, he will become the 11th fighter in UFC history to claim titles in two divisions and just the second to hold both the lightweight and welterweight belts — the first being B.J. Penn.

In the co-main event, flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko defends her title against former strawweight champion Zhang Weili, who is also seeking to join the exclusive list of multi-division UFC champions. Both matchups carry massive historical implications, making UFC 322 one of the biggest nights in recent memory.

The pay-per-view main card kicks off Saturday at 10 p.m. ET on ESPN+, with prelims airing earlier in the evening. Between the star-studded lineup, a potential double-champ crowning, and Joe Rogan’s return to the commentary desk, UFC 322 promises to deliver one of the most electric atmospheres of the year inside Madison Square Garden.
