The tension between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall just went nuclear again 🔥. Following the controversial ending to Aspinall’s heavyweight title defense at UFC 321, Jones has publicly questioned the Brit’s heart and toughness — accusing him of giving up too easily when faced with adversity 😬.
Aspinall’s clash with Ciryl Gane ended in a no-contest after a severe eye poke left him unable to continue late in the first round. The result sparked heated debate online, with fans split over whether Aspinall could’ve fought through the injury. Now, Jones — who was originally slated to face Aspinall in a unification bout — has made his stance clear 👀.
“When Tom gets hurt, he’s like immediately incapacitated,” Jones said on the No Scripts podcast. “It’s like you poke my eye, and there was no [trying to blink it out]. I would’ve been the silliest looking cat on national TV trying to continue — but I’d keep fighting.”
Jones didn’t stop there. The former two-division UFC champion referenced Aspinall’s past injuries as further proof that he lacks grit under pressure.
“He did the same thing with Curtis Blaydes when he hurt his knee,” Jones continued, referring to Aspinall’s ACL tear in 2022 just seconds into their fight. “There was no limping. No trying to get up. He was just immediately, ‘Burn my village, I can’t go on!’ He immediately quits. When he got tapped out with an ankle lock in his first loss, there was no trying to fight the hands. He immediately quit.” 💥
Aspinall, who’s still recovering and wearing an eye patch, has said he’s meeting with doctors to determine the full extent of his injury. But Jones’ mockery hasn’t let up. After UFC 321, he even changed his Twitter profile photo to a duck wearing an eye patch — a not-so-subtle jab at the heavyweight champion 🦆👁️.
He later escalated things further by arriving on horseback at the Dirty Boxing 4 event in Florida — with the horse also wearing an eye patch 🤠😂.
“I’m just having fun with it,” Jones explained. “He had it coming for a long time. I’m just keeping the fans entertained and having a little fun.”
Still, it’s clear the bad blood is real — and if the stars align, a Jones vs. Aspinall showdown could become one of the most personal and high-stakes heavyweight fights in UFC history 💣👊.
