While Garcia first mentioned Max Holloway for a “BMF” showdown, he now admits his ideal next opponent is Josh Emmett, the longtime featherweight contender known for his highlight-reel knockouts 💣.
“I think one fight that makes a lot of sense is probably Josh Emmett,” Garcia said after the fight. “He’s got a name, he’s ranked higher, and I think he’s available — let’s make it happen early next year.” 🗓️
Interestingly, Emmett is coming off a loss to Youssef Zalal, who cornered Onama on Saturday. But Garcia explained why he still prefers the Emmett matchup:
“It’s all about name recognition. Zalal’s great, but Emmett’s a bigger name. I want exciting fights that fans care about.”
Garcia (now riding a 7-fight win streak, six by KO) made it clear he’ll fight anyone — even joking he’d fight “three people in one night” if that’s what it takes. But his main goal is clear: build his name, get ranked higher, and earn his shot at the top of the division.
