UFC legend Jon Jones has shared an emotional tribute to his late brother Arthur Jones, a former NFL Super Bowl champion, who passed away on October 3rd at the age of 39.
Arthur, known for his strength on the field and kindness off it, played eight seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the Baltimore Ravens in 2010. He later joined the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders, leaving behind an inspiring legacy of perseverance and family pride.
In a touching Instagram post, Jon Jones described his brother as more than just an athlete — but as “a father, husband, son, brother, and everyone’s best friend.”
“Arthur was not just a Super Bowl champion but a gentle giant whose kindness and generosity knew no bounds,” Jones wrote. “He brought pure joy, warmth, and laughter to every moment spent around him. His legacy inspires me every day.”
Jones reflected on how Arthur’s love for the outdoors — from hunting and fishing to riding four-wheelers — showed his deep appreciation for life. He also praised Arthur’s community involvement, saying his brother “gave back to students and local charities with an open heart.”
The Jones family — including Jon’s other brother Chandler Jones, a fellow NFL standout — shared their commitment to carrying Arthur’s legacy forward. “We’re striving to be the best versions of ourselves, just as he would have wanted,” Jon added.
Arthur’s football career was one filled with memorable moments. After a successful run at Syracuse University, where he earned First Team All-Big East honors, he went on to help the Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII in 2013. In that game, Arthur recorded a key sack on Colin Kaepernick, helping secure Baltimore’s 34–31 victory over the 49ers.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh also issued a heartfelt statement:
“Art was a remarkable person — a dedicated teammate, a relentless worker, and someone any coach would be proud to lead. His love for life and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone.”
Though Arthur Jones is gone too soon, his influence remains strong across both the NFL and the Jones family legacy, where athletic greatness continues through Jon’s legendary UFC career and Chandler’s achievements in football. 🙏
