Marlon “Chito” Vera is not holding back after his controversial loss at UFC Vancouver.
Vera faced Aiemann Zahabi in a closely contested bantamweight bout that ended in a split-decision loss — marking Vera’s third straight defeat. Despite scoring a knockdown in Round 2, the Ecuadorian star believes the judges completely missed the mark.
“I came hard, and I honestly — I watched the fight last night by myself to try and judge it, because I’m my biggest critic,” Vera told Yahoo Sports. “I’m going to be honest — I still think I won the fight.”
The fiery bantamweight said he was so frustrated that if UFC security hadn’t stepped in, he might have confronted the judges directly.
“Thank God Elliott, the UFC security guy, was there,” Vera said. “Because if I would have encountered a judge, I would have slapped the motherf*cker.”
After the fight, Vera stormed out of the arena barefoot and shirtless, going straight back to his hotel to cool off. Despite the emotional loss, the former title challenger insists he’s staying positive.
“It’s not worth talking about it. It’s in the past,” Vera said. “I’m 32, I’m not in a rush. I’ve got experience, I’m healthy, and the finish line is still far. You might as well keep on going.”
With his mindset intact, Chito now looks to regroup and reclaim his spot among the UFC’s elite — but his frustration with MMA judging remains a reminder of how unpredictable the sport can be.
