The MMA world can’t stop talking about the possibility of Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira, and Joe Rogan just added fuel to the fire.
After Alex Pereira reclaimed his light heavyweight title with a devastating first-round knockout over Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320, talk immediately turned to a potential superfight with Jon Jones. Pereira revealed that he had planned to call out Jones after the win, but refrained out of respect following the passing of Jones’s brother. Still, the idea of the matchup — possibly headlining the UFC White House event — has captivated fans and pundits alike.
On his Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Rogan declared that this is the fight to make — and that it deserves something extra special.
“It would be Alex,” Rogan said. “The big money fight is Alex and Jon Jones at the White House. Are you fcking kidding me? Catchweight. Make it 225 pounds. It doesn’t have to be for a title — make it the **‘Bad Motherfcker Upper Edition.’**”
Rogan even suggested revamping the BMF title for this matchup, explaining that while the original version was created for lighter weight classes, no one could rival Pereira’s dominance.
“Who’s the real BMF? You think any one of those guys can beat Alex Pereira? Does Max Holloway survive against Alex Pereira? No! Shut the fck up. That’s the bad motherfcker.”
The “BMF” belt, first introduced in 2019 after Nate Diaz coined the term, has become a fan-favorite concept, representing toughness and all-out action rather than divisional rankings. Rogan believes that reviving the belt for Jones vs. Pereira would make perfect sense — especially for a fight of this magnitude.
“The Jon Jones–Alex Pereira fight will probably be the biggest fight in human history, in MMA,” Rogan said. “You’ve got the greatest of all time in Jon Jones, and arguably the most destructive striker that’s ever competed. No one is like that guy.”
While the matchup isn’t booked yet, the hype is already off the charts — and if the UFC White House card becomes reality, Jones vs. Pereira could truly be one for the ages.
