Max Holloway isn’t holding back when it comes to Jean Silva’s recent challenge.
Earlier this month, Silva said it would be a “dream fight” to face Holloway for the BMF title at the highly anticipated UFC White House card in June. However, the former featherweight contender is coming off a TKO loss to Diego Lopes in September — and Holloway made it clear he isn’t taking the callout seriously.
During a Kick livestream, a fan asked Holloway about Silva’s comments, and “Blessed” delivered a typically sharp response:
“Is he smoking drugs? Holy fck,” Holloway said. “Did he not see what Diego Lopes just did to him? This guy’s got to be trolling us, bro. … That motherfcker’s still concussed, bro. Whatever he’s saying, we’re not going to take it serious. Dude, stay concussed, bro.”
While Holloway laughed off Silva’s challenge, another name has emerged — Charles Oliveira, who called for a rematch for the BMF title after submitting Mateusz Gamrot in the main event of UFC Rio. Their first fight in 2015 ended just 99 seconds in due to an Oliveira injury, and both men seem interested in finally settling unfinished business.
Holloway, though, isn’t sure about waiting until June for his next bout.
“The White House card is just so far away,” Holloway said. “It’s like a year, boys. I don’t know if I want to wait that long but we’ll see what happens. Never say never. If we take that fight, it’s almost going to be a year I’m out of competition if it happens on the White House card.”
Whether it’s a rematch with Oliveira or another BMF showdown, it’s clear Holloway isn’t short on options — but Jean Silva’s name won’t be on the list anytime soon.
